A 221-foot granite obelisk over the site of the Battle of Bunker Hill. 294 stairs to a view of the whole Boston skyline and the Zakim Bridge. The obelisk form was chosen deliberately to honor "the efforts of many common men" rather than a single leader — a pointed contrast with the later Washington Monument. Stop 16 on the Freedom Trail.
