National Museum of the American Indian

The Smithsonian's museum of Native life, told largely in Native voices, wrapped in curved honey-colored limestone deliberately unlike anything else on the Mall. I traced the Indian Removal Act and the Trail of Tears here, and the roots of the "blood quantum" classification system.
