Known for Dispatching the Midnight Ride; dying at Bunker Hill
The leading Boston Patriot organizer — it was Warren who sent Revere and William Dawes out on the Midnight Ride. He died at the Battle of Bunker Hill, fighting as a private days after being commissioned a general, shot in the head during the final British assault.
His 1857 statue near the monument, by Henry Dexter, is based on a 1772 portrait by John Singleton Copley.
